Collect the brown maps to exchange for red maps to exchange for blue maps.....to exchange for a gold treasure map which will enable you to go to the treasure island. These exchanges all happen on map island which will only appear when it tells you it has!
Also save hammers. You will need a lot of these when you get to treasure island.

Hi. Either from filling a boat order that offers them as part payment or occasionally from treasure chests. You'll never get ahead collecting 'stairs' though. It will always be the thing you're waiting for! The only way round this is to upgrade without them and see how much it wants to charge you for the missing 'stairs'. (Cost in gems).
