When you start out focus on building 2 or 3 outposts with 3 or 4 mines each. You can find the statistics in the upper left hand corner, and swipe all the way to the end to see how you're doing. Then focus on research into pressure, heat, and oxygen, as well as getting to the hab complex, which will also produce oxygen. The more population, the more random benefits will appear. Hope this helps. Also try to use the statistics screen to calculate how fast something is going to develop- accidentally put my pressure up to 4x the goal overnight by not paying attention to this. Took a while to thin it back out.
