I recently went into the cinema and the reward I chose was seeds. I needed an extra seed and the store only sells one of each of the common ones. One of the seeds I got was for the jalapa tree. I was very surprised. Only happened once so far, but worth trying from time to time.

In the general store, under one of the bags of fertilizers it say to use on plants such as the lemon rose bush. I have never seen a plant by that name, and I have all of the plants. Can anyone explain this?

Judy, to get more money for stuff try this:
1) leave game open and minimize
2) open settings, time and date
3) turn off auto date and time
4) change time ahead 1 hour
5) go back to game briefly
6) minimize game again
7) turn auto date and time back on
8) go back to game
This should cause the game to start a new day, except mayor doesn't age and flowers are still watered. You get a new assignment,new rocks to crack open, etc. Build up game money this way. Occasionally it would take work, so if this happens try again. You'll know it worked if after step 8 you are unable to move the screen around or do anything else for a second or 2. Then the mayor will be walking out of the door of the house. Also, for the kid, at adult age one option is to ask them "what's going on?" Ask this, they say something, then they will go do their own thing.

I have 19 plants now, just got a white orchid pitcher plant. I used the other 18 to make every possible combination of plants, 153 in all. I put 2 plants right next to each other with each pair separated from the others by at least 3 spaces. I now have had 93 pairs of plants produce another plant. Some produce common plants that you grow from seed, others produce rare plants. I still do not have the following 4 plants: arthurium tiger fern, tiger lily willow tree, Tahitian ridged cactus and roseceae fern. I have gotten 2 white orchid pitcher seeds from the fortune teller. Since I only have one to use for breeding I will pair it up with a plant for a while and see what happens. If no result then I will try another. Good luck.

To create hybrid plants I plant 2 different plants next to each other. Tried leaving a scavenger between but nothing ever happened. I have had 25 different pairs produce plants, strangely a few became common plants, like four petal maple or lime daffodil. I get several each day. Screenshot included of how I do it.

Nothing special, just one more source of stuff to put in your house.

If they are rare or hybrid plants they must be fertilized.

This is what I've found so far:
-Four petal maple and viola cactus ball next to each other- red berries cactus grows.
-Viola cactus ball and lime daffodil= Daisy lemon bush
- lime daffodil- and golden berries caladium= black orchid.
- blue rose rosebush and Mela rate oak= houstonia bamboo tree

You need a certain number of food, not necessarily different ones. Plant more fruit trees and veggies. I plant them all over, even near areas where people work, hang out, take walks, etc.
