how to beat caterzillar chapter 4 level 3

My theory (still trying to get through the level). Each of the smaller tanks have three shots before it reloads. The big tank has six. There are three guys inside the tank.
When the big tank has shot six times attack the tank then it looses one guy. (After this is where I die) I think that you have to do this three times to loose all three of the guys before you beat the big tank.

When you hit them from behind, they'll turn over. Once you've knocked them over, they won't "reactivate," and you just have to jump on them to eliminate them completely!

These come at you face first. Bump into them, and you'll temporarily "deactivate" them. You'll know this has happened when their face disappears. As soon as they're deactivated, jump over them (avoid the pins!) and hit them from behind! Be careful, since they come in pairs!
