Outside the side of the research dome is the pod racer, behind it is the barrel, then lick the barrel and go to the pump looking thing beside the academy and then go the opposite way of the academy and you’ll se a lave and ball pit, go to the ramp that leads to the guy on it but don’t go on the ramp, and turn a 90 degree angle left and there is a trip that leads to the hatch.

If you find the pod racer it is over a small hill behind it

This is insane. I can't be the only one NOT FINDING THE BARREL! Someone post a vide or a screenshot holy cow. I found the hatch but no stupid barrel anywhere it's maddening!

Where is the hatch?

on the opposite side of the research dome, you can find a very toxic barrel behind the pod racer. use that.
