Once in the Land of Ice inside the paint in the Haunted House, (Some here tells they found wolves but i didn't).. if you read the story, the first tme you enter to that land wwizard and his daughter separate and they tell you to go West (letf of the fireplace) Well in this case I started for that way also and i found the way. Then Walk straight that point and you'll find a way of blueroots that are like plants with spines that moves.. carry them and follow them, as outside the castle to go into forest it will appear a button that says 'Follow the path"...)
The next scene you will find a place with no trees but death trees and a shadow moving around and hiting the trees, once you get a little close that creature is a kind of Ogger of Ice (let's call him Yeti)... and i counted 3 more plants to get around that Yeti. The Yeti is inmune to every spell,you can't defeat him and he will attack you, but you won't lose the progress, if you get killed the game will return you to the beggining of that scene. Let's solve this.
The only way is with the Cat Potion. The Yeti won't attack you as a cat. So you need to turn into a catand get very close to a blueroot, then when the Yeti is far turn again human and get it. Yeti will get close and you'll be unable to do anything while getting the root but don't freak out, you'll have just the time. When you end to get the root turn to Cat quickly. Yeti will still walk to you as a cat but won't attack you, still as a cat if you walk away it won't follow you so walk to next blueroot and do the same (get near, turn to human, get the root, turn to cat) until the last one. Once you get all the blueroots still turn into your cat form.. that way you just have to run to the side where the path is .. turn into a human for the last time and walk until the button "follow the path" appears... then you'll return to fireplace and paint of the Haunted House.
You can return through the painting to Haunted House or open your bag-profile-"Transport to Typewriter's Room" button you can get out of that place.

This puzzle tricks you. The statue beside note is a hint. You must go to the haunted house, inside is a big statue. Either levitate or break it. Key to cave is behind it.

Make sure you have at least 2 potions of cat for and 1 speed potion. Exit castle. Go left, there’s a pathway you can hardly see. Pass haunted house. There’s a river with waterfall. Enter waterfall. Go to dragon. He flies you to the caves. Climb down ladder and navigate caves. There’s a broken bridge but a wooden beam to left. Jump on it. Use cat potion. Climb to top and enter little tunnel. Go down beams on other side. Return to human form. Navigate new part of caves. Hamlin is stuck above door. Enter door under him. End of hall is his staff. On the way back the walls slam on you. Use speed potion to get across. Exit cave. You’ll have to walk up beams of wood in cat form again. Climb ladder back to dragon.

how do i get into the haunted house because it just says a key is needed to get in and no one seems to be able to tell me how to get the key

there really is nothing in the dark forest. if you go in, u will find a broken structure. walk in and u will lose the ability to move. the troll will come save u. u will meet him and thats really it. you get in by going down the trail (it is on the far side of the haunted house) then the first cave you see you walk into and then u go all the way down the cave. there will be a riddle on the statue saying “the key lies within me”. then you go to the haunted house and you go to the huge statue at the end of the wall. you break it with one of the spells then you pick up the key. you go back to the cave and open the door. then you enter the forest. hope this helps!
