sure! open the camera, press & hold your finger on the black part (where the finger is in the picture) and wait until the camera screen gets blurry when you move it. then you can lift your finger and the blurred effect will stay until you do the same thing again.
it's entirely possible that this only works on iphone, not android, so if you have an android, you may be out of luck :(

clara- i think i get what you're saying, and i don't think there's a way to do that. i mean, you could definitely set it to take pictures at different speeds to get the right levels of eye open-ness, but i don't think there's a way to have phhhoto play the pictures in the gif slower. does that answer your question?

ok i dont know if this is going to make sense, but here's how i do it (reference the possibly-helpful subpar ms paint drawing.) i cross my thumbs over the screen, right thumb over the top of the left, both touching the screen. they're both on the same invisible horizontal line across the screen. then, imagine a circle. your thumbs are on the circle. uncross your thumbs clockwise, following the imaginary circle, until they are exactly in the same place as they were before, but with the right thumb UNDER the left.
i start with thumbs already crossed so i don't end up tangling my fingers in a knot. if you have any more questions, i'll try to answer them. if anyone needs it, i could probably put up a video of me doing it as well. good luck guys :)
