You have to keep trying. The game isn't over if you mismatch tiles. The last two tiles left ALWAYS match. If they don't, you need to tell the developers, as that would be a bug.

They are on them. Sometimes they are hidden within the trees and you mightn't know until you click them. They are mostly in the undiscovered part of the island (from where you are now). My advice? Follow them around when you see one in the air. Your click will only register correctly if they land first. It will also count if they land on the ground and you click on them. This is the same way you can get the seagulls, but it's rare for the parrots to go to ground.
