To find either the hidden frog or the toolbox they have to actually be listed in the items to search. It took going in that scene multiple times but it would appear and when it did it would check one off. So depending on how many times you go in that scene to find the items and they appear... I think for the toolbox I had to have gone into that scene a dozen times before it appeared 3 times.
