  Watch for the golden apples. The apple tree drops them once in a while. They are worth more in the store.

  You must also supply your town with food. Buy vegetable seeds and plant them. Also buy fruit trees and plant those. The cornucopia on the left of the screen tells you how many food sources you need each day. I leave the vegetables in the ground be ause the townspeople eat them around dinnertime on their own. I pick up and sell the tree fruit because the townspeople also buy the fruit/vegetables you sell to the store. Watch the apple tree for the odd colored apples - they're golden apples and worth $100 each.

  Be sure to check the apple trees when they drop fruit. Occasionally they drop golden apples that are worth $100 each in the store.

  I always keep fifty or so vegetables growing in the ground for my townsfolk to eat, while I harvest and sell the apples, oranges and pears (watch for the golden apples - they are worth $100 each) because you get a reward for properly supplying enough food to sustain your town after so many days. Be sure to play the game at dinnertime (around 5-6pm) because this is when your townspeople will eat.
