There is some randomness involved in order to be fair. Otherwise top 10 global teams would be battling it out with each other by week 2, with only 3 of them to progress. But that doesn't seem to happen. No one knows what their algorithm is and Wooga's not telling. Mathematically by week 5, if your team has promoted every week and are currently in Ace Division, you are grouped in with the top 0.81% of teams all vying for Sherlock.

Only the core set of players that are on the team when the Detective League ends will reap the rewards. It is possible that the same person could have one or more additional accounts (alter egos, usually on different devices or disk partitions) or it could simply be a pool of other players. Either way, if you encounter one of these teams, your team will be badly outnumbered, and eventually you will want to sleep, where revolving door teams can rotate in fresh players around the clock, so no time is wasted. It is sad that Wooga will not do anything to try to stop this behavior. A simple waiting period before a new member can contribute to the Detective League scoring would be one way to at least reduce this. Ask Wooga the simple question whether they consider "revolving door" to be a strategy or a cheat. They will not actually answer the question. Instead, they will tell you how good their cheat detection software is, or that they do not care if players come and go. Wooga thinks that teams like yours will continue to spend additional resources ($$$) chasing teams like this, in hopes you will not notice that you are up against what I call an "Amorphous Team". I have actually left our club temporarily to join several other clubs in our Detective League to warn them of one or more teams in our list that were using a revolving door club technique, then rejoined our team. Several teams thanked me. As other teams slowly catch on and stop, or at least reduce their spending, only then will Wooga make a change, but as long as teams keep spending resources chasing these Amorphous Teams, Wooga will do nothing.

Additionally, some of these "Teams" will have additional "Reserve Teams", where the additional players can reside, exchange drinks/bushes while on that team, and then return to the main team that is working toward Sherlock. Not always obvious, but some are, usually the reserve teams are named very similarly to the primary team. For example if the Main team name is Terry'sFabulousTeam, the reserve teams could be named something like Terry'sFabulousTeam2, Terry'sFabulousTeam3, etc.

As a side note, my current team is non-competitive, we play for fun although we have gotten to Ace Division a few times, this is not our focus. Many members used to be on very competitive teams, but got tired of the grind. With our team, Ace is our Sherlock.

When the Detectives League was in progress, each team received a little symbol next to their crest which indicated the highest division they had achieved. You can see the list of symbols if you tap on "statistics" beneath your club description.
